You can get to the island from the cities of Tegucigalpa, San Pedro, or LaCeiba on the mainland of Honduras (all flights stop in LaCeiba). From the USA there are daily direct flights to Honduras from Miami, New Orleans and Houston. The three major airlines which connect to Honduras are American, Continental, and Taca. Air France and Iberia offer service from Europe. There are numerous other airlines which offer connecting flights from other countries. From the mainland you can take Sosa Airlines which offers 2 flights per day.

The house was built in 1997 and is located on 1.34 acres of land, with 100 feet of beachfront. The house is located approximately fifty vertical feet above the sea level on a hill overlooking the beach. The construction is post and beam and was designed by a US architect for the Caribbean environment. Due to the post and beam construction, the interior walls are not structural walls, i.e. the current one bedroom; one bathroom design can be altered to meet your needs without worrying about weakening the strength of the structure.

Under the roof are the 32 x 60 feet of living area and the 8 x 60 feet of front porch and the 6 x 40 feet of back porch. Currently there is one large bedroom, a huge bathroom and a great room and kitchen. The house is built of pressure treated pine with finished pine floor and mahogany doors, windows and cabinets. The house is furnished, including washer, range, refrigerator/freezer, two futon couches, queen futon bed, pots, pans, dishes, couches, tables, chairs, water cooler etc, to allow immediate occupancy. The road is approx a 10 min walk from the house.

There is one new road on the island but most transportation is by boat. There is a forty foot dock on the property. Limited supplies can be obtained in the fishing village of Mangrove Bight, which is about a 5 minute walk from the house. The primary shopping is on the Cay (pronounced “key”), also know as Bonnaca. You can get there by private boat or catch a ride from some of the local fishing boats which transport villagers for a minimal fee. There are several stores which stock western style grocery items. Other stores have vegetables, fruits, and meats for sale. Lumbar, hardware, and other items are also available, however selection is somewhat limited. You can ship items directly to the island as there is a boat which transports cargo from Tampa, Florida to Roatan and then Guanaja.

The house faces the north and is surrounded by the second largest Barrier reef in the world, there for allowing for calm water, great fishing, snorkeling and diving. English and Spanish are spoken though out the island. Weather temp average 80’s most of the time, getting hotter in the summer but not much colder year round.
