Roatan
has seen a property boom the likes of which have not been

area. The price of land has risen from a ten (10) year low
of $5000 and acre to $75,000-$500,000 for a plot on the more
exclusive developments.
Property has also seen similar increases with a typical island
home costing $85,000 two years ago now successfully selling
for $225,000. Unlike the rest of the Caribbean, Rotan's property
boom is being fueled by its unique position in the Western
Caribbean which provides unrivaled shelter from the majority
of Atlantic and Caribbean Hurricanes. Many of Rotan's newest
residents are now moving here from other Caribbean islands
such as the Caymans, Bahamas as well as the Florida Keys and
the Gulf cost as well as Europe.
